Possibility of using Vocaloid's voice?

Post  daydreamerz on Mon Jan 16, 2012 12:51 am

Just seems like an idea, probably really hard to do but it would match better than whoever the 40 year old lady's voice it currently is... Crying or Very sad

Vocaloid is just a voicebank-a bunch of revordings of some person.
While using the voice should be no harder than using any other voice, the licensing of vocaloid would be troublesome.

I doing think there are any licenses, you can make a song and use the vocaloid program if u want as long as u bought the program. All the songs out there are made by random composers.

The current voice of Aiko does not look like that of a person of 40 years. Trung made lots of changes in her voice and she sounds good and natural.
In addition, people who have money to buy her maybe not want the voice of a teenager. She will be a personal assitent, not a toy.

And above all this: As Discoman said, Vocaloid licences are very expensive.

daydreamerz: Yes, people can use Vocaloid for composing songs.
But supposing that Aiko would use their product ( Vocaloid)... So Aiko would be sold to third part users using a non licenced product of another company. So Le Trung would sell his product ( Aiko) and profiting from something that does not belong to him for these ends.
That is the difference: you can not make money on the product of another company and not share the profits with this company.. And that's why there is the need of specific licensing.

I've been out of the loop for a while.
Do you have a Youtube link to her current voice?
Including the option to alter her voice does not make her a toy.
Altering the size of her breasts is another story.

And above all this: As Discoman said, Vocaloid licences are very expensive.
Not if going through proper channels, just take a look at Adobe's Flash and the KiSS (dressing game) Dolls around.

This must also use proper channels, but a little more difficult, for instance Flash and shareware video .kar players.
I haven't seen a Flash player crediting Flash yet.

That's not why, but you do need permission.

Re: Possibility of using Vocaloid's voice?

Well, you can't really say her current voice.
There are dozens of vocaloids. In fact, they recently came out with several new ones running on the voclaoid 3 software engine.
Consider even Hatsune miku, her append software gives something like another half-dozen voices to the original software.
For instance, the vocaloid wiki has a list of current vocalokd 3 programs.
They are : Mew, SeeU, VY1v3, V3 Megpoid, Tone Rion, Oliver, CUL, Yuzuki Yukari, Bruno, Clara, and IA.
Now, which would you want to use? Each of them cost a substantial bit of money for the software.

With the adobe flash and those dress up dolls, I'd wonder if they were even actually licensed at all.
I don't think Aiko is at the point where versions would be sold, so the commercial licensing would not be an issue, but some companies want to have some sort of agreement if you are using their stuff for unintended public use.
Vocaloid is an open license for musicians-you buy it, you make songs with it, and you credit the vocaloid as the singer of the song. For example, the super cell album on iTunes, Hatsune Miku is the singer and is listed as such.
Vocaloids are made by several different companies, so it would be best to check with the maker of the one you intend to use.
Aiko doesn't make money, but she does generate publicity and gain notice.
I'd bet that if you asked and a company didn't mind, and you bought the software, their request would be likely as simple as showing somehow in a noticeable way that the voice was from the specific vocaloid.
IMHO, I would suggest using Sonika, as her software can handle English, Japanese, and Chinese.
Aiko V2 could be tri-lingual. Also, Sonika (sometimes written SONiKA) is one of the most affordable vocaloids.
Don't Google her, the results are pretty much just people talking about. Super Sonico, which is a game.
So, here is her website http://Sonika-Vocaloid.com/
And I didn't feel like linking her twitter. Yes, she has a twitter.
More info here http://vocaloid.wikia.com/wiki/Sonika

However, there is something else that compounds it-vocaloids were designed for singing. They were not designed for speech.
Some, however, are capable, and a software called voiceroid is also available for speech. However, Yuzuki Yukari is a vocaloid (3)and is designed to be able to handle speech synthesis. So if aiko used her voice, aiko could sing and talk in the same voice. However, it seems that the voiceroid and vocaloid versions of her may be two different software packages.
I know crypton future media who made some of the vocaloids required you to simply ask before using the image of one of their vocaloids, but for Yuzuki Yukari, you would need to contact AH Software.
