PaPeRo AI Systems Empty PaPeRo AI Systems

Just wondering what the general thoughts are about the PaPeRo AI system under development by NEC Robotics and Kyoto University. I've been a big fan of the AI research for nearly a decade since first seeing the original. I've been doing the best I can to keep it's Wiki page up to date despite not being well versed in robotic or AI engineering.

Interesting ,to say the least...

I wonder how they were able to develop such a... dynamic array of personalities... Needless to say, this is a project that I should pay closer attention to.

Considering the R100 debuted a decade ago, the AI systems really advanced a lot. What really takes me is when the persona emerges after a period for interaction, that depending on which mode it decides to run under, that it has been known to refuse commands.

The very first time I had seen video footage shot about seven years ago, it human interaction partner had tried to power the unit down and put the unit in sleep mode, only for PaPeRo to refuse and start attempting to dodge her hand. the unit cried out like a small child that it did not want to go to sleep, but rather play. What further fascinated me at the time was I beleive that the unit was running a Pentium Celeron processor with less than 256mb of RAM. The overall computing power required for the AI to function was remarkable.
