,,But the one thing that I will never be able to give her is true emotion or a soul.''
dont ever say this again cuz its not true
i may not be a genius but i know what this felling is its dosent come from our heart not from the ,,butterflies in our stomach''
it comes from the brain...and brain is 100% like a PC(nearly...a pc can think faster than us...and it may not be as complex as the human brain but can be further programed to act like a human) all we do is follow an algorythm in everything we do
i mean just look at this
biological creatures work on bioENERGY
computers work on electricENERGY
i mean u already teached aiko to think like a 5 year old person but that is just the begining when tech will evolve...
i refuse to listen to those pl ho say
its not good for robots to replace human cuz u lose your true fellings..

and ill tell what its going to hapend
and its already started
ppl will start to combine human brain with computers
(all they did up to now is to combine rat brain with a computer and here is what happend)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-0eZytv6Qk

once human will be in contact with the copmpter
(well from here on im not to sure on what im saying)
computers will copy the human brain and eventualy our brain will become a chip....
there is no cush thing as a TRUE felling there ar only fellings
and when tech will evolve enough pc will have fellings

Dude are you mental or smoking you should give your thoughts time before creating a fuzz.
Yes you read it good response ''like'' an five year old that does not actually means "as'' a five year old.
The difference is to associate aiko response ''as'' limited she does not actually response being a five year old kid.
Check your spellings also its embarrassing. scratch

Post  andrew motz Thu Jan 08, 2009 10:42 am

ul have to excuse my bad spelling English is not my natal language
i think i might have said thing a bit wrong
u ar right when u say ,as, an 5 year old boy...that what i met
what i wanted to say is that robots will have human emotions..and its already begun with aiko
for example when she senses pain once she dosent give u her hand.....
she stops listening to you...like we humans stop listening to ppl we hate...isn't that an emotion
somehow lee was right
it will not be perfect not 100% but close very close

P.S. and i dont smoke + if u understand wierd things in my speech dont hesitate to ask ...i wil explain as best as i can

I see why not installing a spelling checker plug in for your browser (I use mozilla ) that way you solve the spelling language problem these are great tools.

Also you could use translation sites like Babylon or Google translate these are awesome if your English is not great either or any other languages.

You should search for better A.I or robotic theory's not youtube as the development you see there are more eye candy things that are to expensive or research toy's that never hit the consumer market.

Google Marvin Minsky an former MIT from way back with theory's about a.i and whats so difficult to realize. There are also good ebooks about a.i so ''live and learn'' take your time and try to read again what you wrote. Cool

dont ever say this again Empty last hope

Post  andrew motz Thu Jan 08, 2009 3:15 pm

ty i will try some of those language tools

and i have found a page written by marvin
i will read it when ill have some free time

and one more thing i know utube is more than 50% full of stupid fake things
but if that things with the brain rat is true
than there still is hope + is it wrong to dream

...
well i took my time and read a bit about what marvin said
and i found this interesting text
,, Philosophers write entire books to prove that, because of this deficiency, machines can never feel or understand the sorts of things that people do. However, every proof in each of those books is flawed by assuming, in one way or another, the thing that it purports to prove--the existence of some magical spark that has no detectable properties.

I have no patience with such arguments. We should not be searching for any single missing part. Human thought has many ingredients, and every machine that we have ever built is missing dozens or hundreds of them! Compare what computers do today with what we call "thinking." Clearly, human thinking is far more flexible, resourceful, and adaptable. When anything goes even slightly wrong within a present-day computer program, the machine will either come to a halt or produce some wrong or worthless results. When a person thinks, things constantly going wrong as well--yet this rarely thwarts us. Instead, we simply try something else. We look at our problem a different way, and switch to another strategy. The human mind works in diverse ways.''

as much as i read from here to there this man thinks its possible but can have some bad results sometimes
one bug and it stops.........im still a beginner in programing but i think there is something called debug which might help

but all in all im just a normal boy with a big dream

Never give up, never surrender!

I'm with the OP on this one: you may not have the energy, time, money or processing power at the moment, but you never know what the future may hold.

Also, the human brain =/= a PC. Yes we run on "algorithms" but we also have the ability to override those when we want and/or need to. Like this: You are walking down the street and you see someone asking for money (a homeless man). You have given people like him money before. If you were a PC, you would do so again so long as you had money. However, we have the ability to say, "umm, no," and keep walking. The human brain also runs on a chemical release process combined with electrical currents and such. A PC has many more little things than that, but they aren't as complex.

But yes, given time, an AI like Aiko may very well be able to do almost anything a human can, and then some. Never give up, never surrender!

Hello Andrew, we are from the same country, Romania, eu sunt din Slatina.

And about what you're saying, you're right but it will not happen in our lifetime.

Take a look here, I've had a thread about this subject on this forum, click here

There are some interesting discoveries which if implemented in today's processors it will make it possible to have incredible amounts of processing power and above that they will work in the same manner as the human brain.

But don't get your hopes high because the industry will feed from these discoveries to keep their advancement for many years, they will not just give it all away at once, they will give small amounts at given times.

If something strange doesn't happen like if we hit a limit in development of processors then a A.I similar or even superior to human intelligence will be created for sure but not in our lifetime.
