Romeo Robot in 2011

Post  Gilda on Tue Dec 21, 2010 11:18 pm

The French Aldebaran is going to launch in 2011 a robot called Romeo
It is something like a butler . It seems he will be able to walk in a natural way with an articulated feet and 4 vertebrae. He will also have a nice AI ( that's what Aldebaran says)
But he is ugly because he has an exoskeleto. Aiko will be better

but you shouldn't believe this:
"Romeo will be able to walk through a home, fetch food from the kitchen, take out the garbage and act as a loyal companion to assist elderly and disabled individuals in their daily activities."

Those companies and magazines say such things just to make it look good. The robot will be probably used as a platform for research and will never do any of those tasks in real life.

Yes @Ico, I agree with you.
I've found the official site of the project.
Before I've found it, I almost believed, because Aldebaran made a nice work in Nao robot ( specially about mobility). The little guy is able to sit, to make complicated movements and I've read in some place that they were researching about AE for interaction with hospitalised children.
But wen I read the official site of Romeo... desapointing...
The site even doesn't have a pic of the robot.
But at the same time their site proves to us that Le Trung is real Genial.
Take a look at the site: they need a great amout of partners to do exactely what our friend makes alone!
They are really loosing the opportunity to have a genius in their team.
