New Terms for "Robot" or special term when refering to Aiko. Empty New Terms for "Robot" or special term when refering to Aiko.

Post  Aiko Sat Jan 03, 2009 8:33 am

Hi

I need all of your help on this one.
Chobits used the word persocom to describe Chii (personal computer in human form)
I want to use persocom to describe Aiko, but I think that word is copyright by clamp.

So we need to make our own name for Aiko. (I hate calling Aiko as robot, fembot or android..... I need to make Aiko own Identity)
Something that will say....

computer + silicone + female + robot/humanoid + human behaviour + companion.

The best I can come up with is.... femcom....

Any other Idea for name...

New Terms for "Robot" or special term when refering to Aiko. Empty Aiko 'species' name.

Post  captquazar Sat Jan 03, 2009 1:37 pm

First I think it should be gender neutral. no male or female references. So what is wrong with android except that sets a very hi standard. What should be emphasized is that it is optimized for human interaction. I always imagined 'persocom' stood for Personal Socializing Computer companion.
YOu could use parts of foreign languages like the Japanese 'Kami' for spirit. NOte that 'Chi' is not copyrighted because it is a word from several languages and mathmatics. One of the meanings for 'Chi' is "life force" What are some similar words from other languages? Somthing that means "One who watches over you" or "good luck spirit" or some such. A successful android will be more than the sum of it's parts. It will have a presence, a "Ghost in the Shell". Look for a word that means 'more than appearance'. You are Vietnamese Le, look to your cultural heritage or mythology for a interesting compination of words / ideas.

I agree, whatever name you'll call this type of robots it must not start with fem... because everybody will think it has other purposes than those you are building it for, you know what I mean.

In 5 minutes I thought of this, mecacom(my language) or mechacom(english), from mechanical-companion

Or electrocom, from electronic-companion, this one sounds more modern and it's easy to remember, I'll think of more....

The name must be short, clean and dead on.

New Terms for "Robot" or special term when refering to Aiko. Empty aiko new designation name

Post  WulfCry Mon Jan 05, 2009 8:46 pm

This is a though one but I give it a try
First sum up the total functionality of the android

Aiko wil do house cleaning and kooking probably ''can we use maid?''
Aiko will have a conversation with you about anything
Aiko is a prototype for future models the software could be cybernetic transferable
Aiko also does presentations entity.
Aiko is a personal computer.
Aiko is a versatile android , computer with household capability's and companionship
I thinking about ->
HOMAIKO Home + aiko "Because she can do household task and loves to do such "aka Aiko"
ANDAIKO Android + aiko "Its an android designated as Aiko (aiko means love and that also is another word for ''one companion that cares"
COMAIKO Computer + Aiko "I've separated computer + aiko because aiko totaly is versatile"
COMACOM computer + android + companion "The word companion seems negative do"
HOBESI Home maid + behavior + silicone based something
SIBACOM Silicone based android + computer "because siba is a pun for cyber I let out android "
SIBAIKO the pun see above + aiko merged.
I guess I could put more though in this '' he'' its a jump start for any other naming convention Smile LOL

I think you should call her Espirion, stands for =experience something new.

An Espirion, a new type of robot build to serve you.I like the plural to it also, espirions, the new robots.

Very futuristic name, it would be wise not to use abbreviations like com for companion or something like that, use something new that hasn't been done yet.

Except for few people most will not ask themselves what Femcom or Espirion would stand for, all they care about is to sound good and be in theme with the product.

Ahh shit,I found on google that there is a small pharmaceutical company called Espirion Therapeutics.

Espirion Therapeutics is a spin-off company from Pfizer that develops compounds for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.

From here

I don't know how this works but maybe you can name the robots like this but you cannot patent it with this name. Espirion Therapeutics is a very small firm in Europe, maybe they will not even care about it, they don't even have a website.

It pronounces exactly as it's written,Espirion (Es-pi-ri-on) , it comes from spanish. Personally I think this is one of the best names you can give to this kind of robots, it will be very catchy in Europe and N America.

Kal-el it took you a while figuring that out I'm not trying to be conceded towards you.
So don't get me wrong the moment I've seen your post google or yahoo provided the same
answer about espirion.

Still it is very difficult somewhere I believe its on the tip of our tongue.

Very Happy LOL.

Wow thats it a dream computing android your doing it really befitting aiko's profile of a pseudo persecom. having a computer that is different.
maybe its prudent to indeed get rid of the com of companion or computer. The world is about connection
Yumaiko dream robot ( It made me remember the way the dreamcast was called which was also named because of the potential)
Yumupu = yume dream Mu <- greek for cpu and pu from computer.

Which terms are there for connection or compatibility that goes with yume or for the case for an international name dream - connection or compatibility. To say people who connect with there autonomous computer.

I think we are getting very close....

YumeCom
or
Yumeaiko
or
Yumaiko

I think I prefer Yumaiko (Yume=dream, Ai=Love, ko=one)
so..... dream of beloved one.
or dream of robot. (World's dream of one day Aiko existence or world's dream of one day Aiko exist in everyone home.)

or
Yumecom = dream computer or dream companion?

Pick one.. and I will trademark the name. (hopefully, not too expensive)

Yumeko, should translate into "the dream one", like "the dream car", the best car you can possibly want.

Yumeaiko is too much to pronounce for westerners, I think Yumecom would fit better.

But you should not trademark it yet because it's expensive to trademark a name, wait for a better one.

It's unbelievable, I thought of a lot of good names but most are taken.What a Face What a Face Shocked

I started from the well known name Cyborg=Cybernetic Organism and thought of these names:

Cybercom=cybernetic companion
Cybermaid=cybernetic maid
Robocom=robotic companion
Robomaid=robotic maid
Cyberserv=cybernetic servant
Cycom=cybernetic companion
Cyserv=Cybernetic Servant
Cyrocom=cybernetic robotic companion
Cyroserv=Cybernetic Robtic servant

Those that are not taken are Cyrocomp(Cyro-comp)=Cybernetic Robotic Companion or Cybernetic Robotic Computer.

Or Percycom(Percy-com)=Personal Cybernetic Companion(or computer), it resembles persacom but even if it has one different letter then it is an altogether different word so trademarking it should be no problem.

Or Rocycom(Rocy-com)= Robotic Cybernetic Companion(or computer) or Robot cybernetic companion

I think maybe a simple name might be good that isn't related to the words android or computer. Sorta like in the anime DearS the androids aren't called robots but DearS. But combining words is also a good idea.

Mechanical Maiden

MuCom (( Mu (Dream) Computer ))

These are only a few suggests but maybe they will help Very Happy

I don't think Aiko should be in the name for your type of droid as it's a personal name for this particular droid.
Yumecom Aiko sounds nice. I'd like to get one of those Yumecoms, though people would probably pronounce it Yummy Com.
It's more than just a communication device or computer so Yumecom probably doesn't fit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_robots_and_androids
Anything over 70 years old should be usable.

Perhaps an acronym would better.
